Gospel Singer/Songwriter reveals his inspirations, what separates him from other musicians, and the release of his 1st album, "My Father's House".
Suite101: Can you please tell us about the unique genre of music you play? Lennox: Gospel. I used to work for a great winemaker name Laurent Monpeliu who used to call his process "Custom Blending". It was so strange it made people ask, what is that? For that reason, I call my music "Acoustic Fusion" because it’s just something different. Suite101: What attracts you to this type of fusion music? Lennox: I love so many different types of music that’s where the fusion comes in. It’s a blend of all the music I like. And the acoustic part of "Acoustic Fusion" is that I love the sound of acoustic, that’s what drew me to it. Suite101: How did you initially begin on your path as a singer/musician? Lennox: Wow. I was eight years old when I knew that I hear music differently than other people. I was in my mid 20s when I started using music as therapy for my own soul. Then in my late 20s, a friend challenged me that it wasn’t something just for my therapy, but something I should share. So around age 27, I realized it was something that just didn’t belong to me. Suite101: From where do you draw your inspiration? Lennox: I’m a minister’s son. I grew up reading the bible and I was home schooled so that was my first textbook. My inspiration comes from nature, people, relationships, reading, life, & experience and I filter everything from my faith with Jesus Christ. Suite101: So it sounds like you’re music is built into your way of life. Tell me about your first album, my father’s house. Lennox: I wrote the title track of that album 16 years ago it was the first song I ever wrote and up until then I thought I was just a musician I didn’t realize I was a writer. It’s been a labor of love, I’ve gotten 4 albums written and I was blessed to meet someone to who helped me produce my first album. It’s one of four and the most special because it took me 16 years to go from idea to product. And we’ve already started on the 2nd album. Suite101: What’s that going to be called? Lennox: "Sounds Like Humans". Suite101: How have people responded to your music and your 1st album, "My Father's House"? Lennox: It’s been wonderful. I mean as a result of this album, I’ve been able to travel. And people have provided expenses for me to play, I’ve even been on a cruise to Guatemala, Belize, & Mexico. It’s been an amazing journey of building more and more relationships and getting to share my message, which at the heart is about hope. Suite101: Lastly, what’s the next big thing for you? Lennox: (Laughs) I never know the answer to that, but the things I’m involved with at the moment are music, a ministry at a church, writing for music and a chapter for a book, and I’m also working in film production. I worked on a video for my website which I’m launching that’s called - Listen to his Lennox's Music at: Lennox's Myspace Visit: Lennox’s Official Website
