Kierra Sheard is no stranger to music. Raised in a family of famous gospel singers and praisers, she began singing on stage at the tender age of 10 duetting with her mother on The Will of God, a song written by Evangelist Richard White which appeared on Karen Clark Sheard's debut album Finally Karen. This performance garnered her a Stellar Award in 1998 for Best Children's Performance and set the tone for solo success.
By 2004, Kierra's own debut album I Owe You saw peaked on the US Billboards Top 200 at #115. The album's lead single You Don't Know granted Kierra much success as she was nominated for multiple awards including three Stellar Awards, numerous Dove Awards, Soul Train Music Awards and an NAACP Image Award. The album also saw international success as the single Let Go went to the top of the charts in Japan where it remained for several weeks.
Bold Right Life
As a symbol of her coming into womanhood, Kierra has since dropped the name KiKi. Her third studio album Bold Right Life has solidified the songstress as a force to be reckoned with amongst her gospel music peers as she delivers songs of praise with a passion, energy, and fire that is reminiscent to that of her family traditions, while making it clear that she is an individual, capable of commanding the stage as a solo artist.
According to GospelCity.com, Kierra describes the new album in these words: “This is THE album for me. I have never been so excited about a project! This album is finally everything I wanted it to be and I believe that God is truly using me through this project in a way he's never used me before.”
Won't Hold Back
The first single Won’t Hold Back, produced by her younger brother J. Drew Sheard is a high energy tune that declares Kierra’s need to praise God at all times. A mix of infectious beats that are enough to catch the attention of teens and young adults with words that will speak to an older generation will have hands clapping and feet tapping from the moment it begins through the end.
Other up-tempo songs such as My Boyfriend, a song that encourages young girls to seek the love of Jesus imploring them to let Him be their everything, Love Like Crazy a song about how her love for Christ has her doing things out of the ordinary, and If It Had Not Been a revelation of praise and thanks to the Lord for remaining by her side keep the pace exciting throughout the album.

Oh Lord, another ballad shows that it doesn’t always take a full choir and band to give God praise. Sometimes all it takes is an effortless cry of Oh Lord.

According to Billboard.com, Bold Right Life debuted at #114 on the Top 200, #9 Top Christian, remaining there for 54 weeks, and #3 Top Gospel for 114 weeks. Filled with tunes that will inspire and uplift its listener, the 11 track LP Bold Right Life is Kierra’s best to date. As she continues to grow into her womanhood and in her walk with Christ, fans can only expect that she, like her predecessors will get better with time.
